3. Cobalt-free batteries
Currently, cobalt, a rare metal resource, is often used as a cathode material in the construction of lithium batteries. Congo, which supplies nearly 70% of the world’s cobalt, is suffering from chronic political unrest, which has led to a serious shortage of cobalt and higher prices.
